A WELLFLEET B&B ON CAPE COD BAY

"WINTER" SUNSET OVER CAPE COD BAY AT BLUE HERON COVE  B & B

LOCAL INFORMATION

Wellfleet offers many opportunities to observe the contrasts that occur between the ocean and the bay of this narrow land.  The Marconi Site in South Wellfleet offers a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Cod Bay.  It was at this location that the first transatlantic message was sent to England in 1903. Also located near this sight is the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp nature trail.  It is considered to be one of the most beautiful nature trails in the National Seashore.

Wellfleet offers a wide variety of Ocean and Bay beaches.  The Ocean beaches are considered to be some of the most beautiful in the world with magnificent dunes and fabulous Atlantic views.  Cape Cod Bay beaches will reward each viewer with a spectacular sight as the sunsets into Cape Cod Bay.  Great Island in our National Seashore offers fabulous hiking trails for those interested in bird watching, plant and marine life, and our land preserved in it's natural state.

For the bike riders, there are three bike paths in the National Seashore, one at the Salt Pond in Eastham, another at Head of Meadows Beach in Truro, and a fantastic one in Province Lands in Provincetown.  There is also the fabulous Cape Cod Bike Trail which begins here in South Wellfleet and continues south through Eastham, Orleans, and beyond.

The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Audubon Sanctuary is 1100 acres of salt marsh, pine woods, moors, bay beaches and hiking trails.  The sanctuary offers many delightful programs year round which includes wildlife tours, cruises, canoe trips, summer day camp, children's programs, birding programs, natural history walks, sunset hikes, and many other interesting programs. They also offer Monomoy Island wildlife tours.  We are very fortunate to overlook the Audubon.

The vacation activities in Wellfleet are endless.  They include fishing, golf, tennis, biking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, bird watching,  boating, dining, and swimming just to mention a few.  Wellfleet is also known as the Art Gallery Town and still retains the charm of Old Cape Cod.
